1521 Restaurant

The rainy season is the best time for Filipino comfort food! And if such a craving is upon you, why not head out to 1521 along Shaw Blvd., Mandaluyong? From EDSA, it is on your right side. The place serves Filipino cuisine with a twist and the interior work is also interesting with the very compact space made to resemble a dining area inside a traditional bahay na bato. The walls are drawn with large capiz shell windows,  opening to a view reminiscent of Spanish colonial towns like that of Vigan and Intramuros.

Anyway, dish we tried was Dai-mos (daing na bangus with miso) at P285 that cleverly puts to work the eating paradigm of Filipinos of having something dry with something wet.  It was pretty lovely!
